Business Mixer on September 26, 2017

Members of AmCham enjoyed the warmth of autumn evening with a glass of good wine and tasty food accompanied by beautiful music at Tashkent International School which hosted a Business Mixer on the 26th of September 2017. The evening began with live music performed by TIS students including “Wild flower” by Park Hyo Shin and “Becoming Dust” by Roy Kim and Jung Joon Yeong. The guitar accompaniment was in perfect harmony with the autumn air.
The official portion of the evening was opened by AmCham President, Hugo Minderhoud, who welcomed all guests, and introduced the new AmCham Uzbekistan Board of Directors who were elected on the 16th of May (amcham.uz/board-of-directors/). He also welcomed new members who attended the event. It’s worth noting that the AmCham family has grown over the summer holidays. New members include: KPMG; Bureau Veritas; Council Law Firm; UzCarlsberg; Prae Legal; Avrora Legal; EDU-Action; Birches Group; Gross Insurance; and VILLETON SAGL.
Director of Tashkent International School (TIS), Myna Anderson, thanked AmCham for their multiyear partnership. “Our greatest asset is not our outstanding curriculum, our beautiful campus, or our brilliant teachers. Our greatest asset is our students, who always impress everyone with their achievements, their ability to think independently and creatively, and their care and attention to the world around them.” At the end of her speech Myna Anderson mentioned new Presidential Decree No PP-3276 dated September 17, 2017, “On the measures on further development of the activities on rendering nongovernmental educational services.” The Decree has had a very positive impact on many aspects of TIS activities.
Tashkent International School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School with nearly 500 students from over 40 countries in preschool through grade 12. TIS is a not-for-profit, co-educational day school governed by a board of directors elected from the parent community. The school offers all three IB programs – the Primary Years Programme (PYP), for preschool through grade 5; the Middle Years Programme (MYP), for grades 6 through 10; and the Diploma Programme (DP), for students in grades 11 and 12. Preschool students at TIS attend the Early Learning Center (ELC), a self-contained purpose-built section of TIS for children from age 3 to 5. The highly-trained teaching staff at TIS comes from around the world, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, Australia, India and Uzbekistan. TIS is located adjacent to the Tashkent International Clinic on a 13-acre wooded campus with 24-hour security.
