BUSINESS MIXER

Long-standing members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan, AKTE, LLC and SEAF SME Investment Management, sponsored the first AmCham Business Mixer of 2012.

Following tradition, the sponsors repeated their success from last year’s business mixer and hosted the 2012 event at the home-museum of Tamara Khanum, the famous Uzbek dancer who promoted Uzbek culture and traditions around the world.

AmCham President Donald Nicholson II, Hugo Minderhoud and Tatyana Bystrushkina welcomed the guests and invited the director of the museum to speak. Zubaida Muzafarova thanked all participants for their attention to the museum and also thanked the U.S. Ambassador Fund, which helped print a book about Khanum. The book is available, in Russian, at the museum.
Everyone who gathered for the 2012 mixer enjoyed the food and refreshments and had a chance to look through the Khanum’s fabulous costumes, which are exhibited in the main room of the museum.

December 2011 Business Mixer

The American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan closed out 2011 with its newest Corporate A member, Microsoft, at the Dec. 13 AmCham Business Mixer hosted by Microsoft.

The festive New Year celebration included members of AmCham as well as members of the diplomatic missions, international organizations and Microsoft partners. The mixer was held at in the Dome Restaurant of the InterContinental Hotel Tashkent.

Donald Nicolson II, president of AmCham, opened the evening by welcoming all participants, noting it was the last business mixer until 2012. He thanked Tatyana Telegina, Microsoft regional lead and a member of the Microsoft Platinum Club 2011 and her team for their organization and sponsorship of the evening.

Uzbekistan Microsoft is cooperating closely with the Uzbekistan Agency on Intellectual Property and the enforcement of intellectual property rights. This close working relationship is excellent proof that Uzbekistan is fully prepared to develop intellectual property rights (IPR).

Microsoft has also initiated the creation sof the new Intellectual Property Rights Committee within AmCham Uzbekistan, which will be chaired by Telegina.

The year 2012 will be rich with a series of events connected to IPR, Telegina told the crowd as she welcomed everyone to continue the evening by enjoying the food and refreshments provided in the Dome Restaurant.
