President’s Note

Welcome to Tashkent, Uzbekistan!

It is, indeed, a thrilling time to be in Uzbekistan. Since the introduction of the extensive reform program by the government of Uzbekistan back in 2017, we have witnessed liberalization of the country’s economy, foreign policy and public administration. Much has been achieved in the above-mentioned spheres within these two years, starting with the liberalization of the foreign exchange market and visa regime, development of the public-private partnership mechanism, to significant improvement in the public-private dialogue. Moreover, AmCham participates in the newly created Foreign Investment Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at addressing investors’ concerns and jointly works on further improving the investment climate at the highest level.

We, as AmCham, follow the ongoing reforms, such as the large-scale privatization program, reform of the tax law, customs reform, improving intellectual property rights protection, and enhancing regional cooperation. All of the above will inevitably contribute to growing business opportunities for foreign companies.

At the same time, as an independent business association, with close to 120 members, AmCham continuously works to improve the investment climate and promote the positive business agenda in Uzbekistan, and to strengthen bilateral relations, trade and investment through networking events, business services and trade missions.
