FIEZ

Navoi Investment Forum

On October 21-23, 2009  the Asian Development Bank (ADB) jointly with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan, sponsored a three-day forum and international conference dealing with the attraction of investment into the Free Industrial Economic Zone (FIEZ) that is being developed in Navoi.

 The opening day took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Tashkent where an audience of several hundred gathered to hear presentations from H.E. Rustam Azimov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan;   H.E. Elyor Ganiev, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade; Ms. Galina Saidova, First Deputy Minister of Economy; and senior officials from the Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and the World Bank Group.

 Further presentations were made by Mr. Myung-Chul Noh, director of the Navoi airport; and others involved in projects that are currently being developed for incorporation into the FIEZ.With many international visitors in attendance, arrangements were made for everyone to visit Navoi and the FIEZ, where the infrastructure is already being installed.
