Negotiations takes place with the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan

On 5 November 2020, the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan (AmCham) Hugo Willem Minderhoud.

During the meeting, issues related to support in the context of a pandemic of foreign investors and entrepreneurs implementing projects and operating in the country were discussed.

The parties noted the importance of ensuring a constant and effective dialogue between the state and the private sector, as an important factor for attracting investments and developing entrepreneurship, including with the participation of foreign capital. It was also emphasized that a key component of the investment climate in any country is the attention paid by the state to the issues of supporting entrepreneurs in the context of global economic instability.

In this regard, the prospects for practical interaction of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade with the American Chamber of Commerce were considered, aimed at broadly informing representatives of the foreign business community about the existing mechanisms of state support for business in a pandemic, as well as providing practical support to foreign investors leading their activities in Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the joint organization of a webinar to inform companies in the United States and other countries about the measures taken by the Government of the Republic to minimize the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and stimulate the activity of foreign business in the country.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan is a non-profit independent association founded in 1997 by representatives of foreign business living and operating in Uzbekistan, and uniting heads of companies from the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
